Terroir : because of its proximity to the Grande Champagne area, the vineyard benefits from 2 terroirs, producing assemblages (blends) that have strength and fullness, but will yet be round, supple and mature quicker than cognacs from the Grande Champagne.

|The Distillerie du Peyrat is located in a quaint village of the same name situated on the “Via Agrippa which linked Lyon and the Atlantic coast during the ancient Roman era. Our Cognacs are born by a small river in the gentle Charente countryside, 10 km from the city of Cognac. Before becoming Cognac, our wines are submitted to a trial by fire and copper imposed by the propitious alchemy of the Charente pot still. Distillation is an accomplishment, an essential task confided only to specialists; insofar as the Distillerie du Peyrat is concerned, its secrets remain closely guarded since 1725 when an ancestor of our family set up shop as a “marchand bruleur.
The Cognacs of our brand share the commonality to have been crafted in our pot stills with our know-how, a signature of authenticity as it were. Moreover, an undertaking quite rare, the Distillerie du Peyrat exclusively produces organic Cognacs, attesting to our respect for the environment and the intense expression of our “terroir. After the fire, the test of time, and only time, hand in hand with oak barrels, can perfect the work of the pot stills. Distillerie du Peyrat is committed to develop its products and to run its activity in a sustainable fashion. Since 1998, we have chosen to grow our entire vineyard according to organic farming methods and we exclusively trade with local organic producers to craft our spirits. Distillerie du Peyrats products are certified organic by several organizations worldwide including ECOCERT and the USDA.
In addition to our commitment to organic farming, we have taken different steps to reduce the ecological impact of our activity.
- We favor green energy as much as possible to run our activity. To this purpose, we have installed solar panels onsite to contribute to the generation of clean energy.
- All our packagings labels and stickers are issued from recycled paper and we select ecological packaging solution.
- We deal with local stakeholders to bottle our spirits in order to avoid all unnecessary greenhouse gas emissions. We also strive to bring our entire vineyard together in a location close to our production site to this purpose.
