Giacomo Borgogno No Name Barolo
Antonio Galloni of Vinous has called
Borgogno’s No Name “one of the best values in the world of wine.”
This wine comes from the best grapes of Nebbiolo grown in the Langhe area.
Dark ruby core with pale ruby reflections at the rim. The wine opens with a very pretty core of ripe red cherry and cranberry, along with notes of red plum, crushed rose petal, and pipe tobacco. The palate is nicely composed of ripe primary fruit and a very fine structural presence. The tannins are ripe and show great potential for integration over the next decade. On the finish, there’s a good array of primary fruit and secondary notes like mint and Earl Grey tea. It pairs perfectly with the great classics of Piedmontese cuisine, such as wild game, braised meats and roasts. Drink now -2035.
